Why our prices look like this

The Underdog Promise

SciFan started as a safe haven for authors the gatekeepers pushed around — and we still run it that way. We're the underdog, and we price like it: every service below is priced well under what the big services charge, on purpose, because our mindset is helping authors, not milking them. Don't take our word for it — every card shows what others charge, with a link so you can check for yourself. Founding rates, while the founding cohort lasts.

Straight talk

A good fit if / Not a fit if

We'd rather turn down a project than take one we can't help. Here's the honest version.

A good fit if

  • You write science fiction, fantasy or GameLit — especially where the magic and the machinery share a page.
  • You have a finished or nearly finished book and a real release date in mind.
  • You want the launch handled by someone else so you can keep writing.
  • You're comfortable with honest feedback on your blurb, your page, or your manuscript.
  • You'd rather have a small, hands-on partner than a big, anonymous package.

Not a fit if

  • You're looking for guaranteed sales, rankings or reviews. Nobody can honestly offer that, and we won't pretend to.
  • You want a bulk package with no conversation about the book itself.
  • You need a launch in the next few days — the cohort doesn't work at that speed.
  • You'd rather not share the manuscript or the listing with an outside reader.
  • You're outside the genres we read and know well.

No guaranteed sales, rankings or reviews. Ever. We do the work — the copy, the pages, the placement, the research — and we tell you plainly what we can and can't control. Anyone promising you a bestseller list position is selling you something else.

Questions

Before you apply

The five things authors ask us most.

How does it work?

You apply, we read the application properly, and then we talk. If it looks like a fit, we scope the work together — which pieces you actually need, what the timeline looks like, and what it costs. Nothing starts until you've seen the full scope and agreed to it.

From there it's a working relationship: we run the launch, you stay in the loop, and you keep writing.

What are the timelines?

Managed Launch runs four weeks. Smaller pieces — a blurb overhaul, a short story critique, a landing page — are scoped individually and usually turn around faster.

Because we cap the cohort at two managed launches at a time, start dates depend on where the current authors are in their cycle. We'll tell you the realistic start date before you commit, not after.

Why are your prices so much lower than everyone else's?

Because that's the point. SciFan started as a safe haven for authors the gatekeepers pushed around, and we still run it that way — we're the underdog, and helping authors matters more to us than squeezing them. Every service on this page shows what others charge, with a link, so you can check the difference yourself.

What's the Publisher Rocket premium note about?

Amazon Keyword & Category Optimization is our premium service, and it's built on our licensed Publisher Rocket. It includes a personal research session — we sit with you and go through the keyword and category data together, so you understand the reasoning and can reuse it on your next release.

It's limited to a small number of slots because the research session is one-to-one. When the slots for a cycle are gone, they're gone until the next one.

What happens after I apply?

We read it. If there's a possible fit, we'll come back to you with questions and a proposed scope. If it isn't a fit, we'll tell you that too — plainly, and without wasting your time.

Applying doesn't commit you to anything. It starts a conversation.
